Walibi
World began life as 'Flevohof'; an educational
attraction in 1971. The park featured a recreation of an
Indian town, amongst other attractions with themes such
as agriculture. Flevohof went bankrupt in 1993, and was
subsequently purchased by the Walibi Group, who
redeveloped the site as an amusement park. Vekoma
debuted their first Suspended Looping Coaster in 1994,
and 'Walibi Flevo' grew from there. When Premier Parks
Inc purchased the park they transformed it to 'Six Flags
Holland', introducing many new attractions based on the
Warner Brothers characters. The park saw the
opening of Europe's first hyper coaster, Goliath, in
2002. Since this point, the park has been sold twice
again, and reverted to Walibi World. The current owners, Grévin & Cie,
have taken a more family based approach.
